Successful business people and entrepreneurs are never satisfied with the status quo.  The reason they achieve extraordinary things in business, is because for the most part, they do things differently than the rest of us, they’re always learning, so that they can constantly improve.  Many billionaires credit their success to the fact that they are voracious readers.

These days, it’s so easy to learn new things.  Whether you prefer a book, an audio book, a podcast, webinar or attending a conference in person – the ways and means of how you get your information means that you can literally be learning anytime and anywhere. And here’s the thing.  If you read a book and get just 1 good idea that you can apply to your business or your job – then that is a fantastic success for you.    That’s progress.   I remember hearing a great quote:

If you are unsure on how to meditate, consider downloading a guided meditation class for your phone, finding a quite space and giving it a go, and remember, just start with a few minutes a day and build from there.

Sure, you could go through your day just handling the daily ‘busy-work’ and get that done.  OR, you could create your plan and work the plan.

At our office, the last thing we do before leaving work each day, is to create our plan for our next day.

We are very intentional about our goal to have all of the items on our list completed before 11AM the next day (and full disclosure, sometimes that’s impossible, but it’s a goal and challenge we set for ourselves every single day).

They have a passion project

In the morning, before the arrival of work emails, briefings and meetings can be an awesome time for those with a hobby or a passion project.   By treating your first few hours as time to work on what you are truly passionate about, you can feel satisfied that you have made great strides toward your top (real) goal.

Think about how much work you can get done on your passion, one hour a day every day.

I love having the time to really connect with family and friends and check out what they’ve been up to (thank goodness for social media which makes this super easy).     But with our busy schedules, sometimes that feels like an impossible task.

Allocate yourself some time each day to just interact with a friend or family member.  It can literally be a quick 1-line message, or a phone call.  Don’t make your job more important than the important people in your life…they need you too…
